Football Season
Facials = >90% of the time, switching every few moves, able to hold them for whole routine
L’s = Held for majority of routine; ok if dropped a little, but do best to keep L’s.
Blades = Should be able to do blades consistently in routine.
Knowledge of Routine = Should feel mostly or entirely confident in routine. If makes 1-3 mistakes, okay as long as you recover. If makes more than that and/or has trouble recovering, that is an issue.
Tossing = Able to toss and catch, does everything they can to catch flag, even if it means stepping out and grabbing it, then returning to spot. Toss height and spins are improving throughout football season. If not able to achieve 2 spins, they manually do the second spin.
Body control = Should not be moving with the flag, muscles are tight, and movements are sharp. Little to no wobbliness.
Loudness = Student should always be shouting as loud as they can when necessary.
Timing = Should have little to no problem with timing, if they make a few mistakes, the student should be able to recognize that they are out of time and recover.
Energy = Keeping energy throughout, >85% is acceptable, but higher preferred.
Homecoming/Assemblies
Facials = >95% of the time, switching at least every few moves, required to hold them for whole routine
L’s = Held for majority of routine; ok if dropped a little, but do best to keep L’s.
Blades = Should be able to do blades consistently in routine.
Knowledge of Routine = Should feel confident in whole routine. If makes 1-2 mistakes, okay as long as you recover. If makes more than that and/or has trouble recovering, that is an issue.
Tossing = Able to toss and catch, does everything they can to catch flag, even if it means stepping out and grabbing it, then returning to spot. Toss height is high and appropriate spins are achieved. More difficult tosses are attempted well and caught.
Body control = Should not be moving with the flag, muscles are tight, and movements are sharp. Very, very little to no wobbliness.
Loudness = Student should always be shouting as loud as they can when necessary.
Timing = Should have little to no problem with timing, if they make a few mistakes, the student need to be able to recognize that they are out of time and recover.
Energy = Keeping energy throughout, >90% is acceptable, but higher preferred.
Splits = One side required. No other requirements. I really don’t like cutting based off of splits, so if you think you are close enough and can slide into it safely, lets chat, but you need to be stretching at home and CLOSE!
Competition Season
Facials = >99% of the time, switching required at least every few moves, required to hold them for whole routine. Must be creative and suit your character.
L’s = Held for at least 95% of routine
Blades = Required to do blades consistently in routine. Absolutely no chicken wings.
Knowledge of Routine = Confident in whole routine. If makes 1-2 mistakes, okay as long as student recovers. If student makes more than that and/or has trouble recovering, that is a big issue.
Tossing = Able to toss and catch, does everything they can to catch flag, even if it means stepping out and grabbing it, then returning to spot, although the student should be needing to do less of that. Toss height is high and necessary spins are achieved. More difficult tosses are executed correctly successfully caught. Needs to have at least a 95% toss catch consistency rate in all tosses.
Body control = NO moving with the flag at all, muscles are tight, and movements are sharp. ZERO wobbliness. All moves executed synchronized.
Loudness = Student should always be shouting as loud as they can when necessary.
Timing = No problem with timing, if they make a few mistakes, the student need to be able to recognize that they are out of time and have a QUICK recovery.
Energy = Keeping energy throughout, >90% is acceptable, but higher preferred.
Splits = One side required, other side achieved or very close. Middles would be an extra fabulous bonus!
