FAQ

Do I need previous dance or flag experience to try out?
Not at all! We’re here to teach you everything you need to know. All we ask is that you come with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.

What do I need to complete for tryouts?
To be eligible for tryouts, students must:

  • Be enrolled at SWHS for the 2025-2026 school year (incoming freshmen included.)

  • Register through Final Forms with an updated physical on file.

  • Attend the mandatory parent/guardian meeting (date to be announced when tryouts open).

  • Complete and submit the tryout packet, which will be sent to students who fill out the interest form.

How do I register for the 2025-2026 season?
Registration for tryouts will open sometime in April through Final Forms. Parents/guardians must complete the registration process beforehand.

Is a physical required to participate?
Yes, all student-athletes must have a current physical on file to try out. Physicals are valid for two years; however, if your physical expires during the upcoming season, you’ll need to obtain a new one before being cleared to practice. Updated physicals should be uploaded to your Final Forms account.

What if I’m feeling nervous or unsure about trying out?
We understand! Attend our Flag Tryout Meeting (date to be announced when tryouts open) to get a feel for our team’s style, meet other athletes, and ask questions in a relaxed environment. We'll have sweet treats too!

Can Running Start students try out?
Absolutely! Running Start students are welcome to join, but please make sure your final schedule accommodates our practice and performance commitments.

What should I expect at tryouts?
At tryouts, you’ll learn a short version of our fight song routine that incorporates flag skills and choreography. You’ll also get a chance to learn more about the team and what it means to be a part of Flags!

What should I wear to tryouts?
All dress code details will be included in your tryout packet. Make sure to review it carefully, as specific attire (such as a gray shirt with black shorts or leggings) may be required for each day of tryouts.
